there's a couple of people in high school in my class who absolutely mess up their life. during lessons when we use laptops they just mess around on facebok and end up on a game for two hours doing absolute no work at all. this girl who was caught talking on msn/ichat just rolled her eyes at her friend after the teacher gave her a detention.
they're so immature and i don't even know how the hell they're going to survive when they're older. |

both my parents were highschool drop outs.
now my mom's a teacher and my dad's a manager at some insurance company anyway, i know what you mean. but, it doesn't make them bad people. sure, it isn't really a wise decision, but there's no reason to hate them for that. |

They let people use laptops in high school?
However, reality check: that's how a lot of us spend classes in college. |

haha yeah the school i go to has implemented this laptop-education thing...and basically almost every lesson we use our laptops - easy access to research, internet (and games of course) :)
well sometimes i go on games, or creatblog (lol) or facebook, but these guys just like...play games in every lesson unless they're being watched or something. |

Well then isn't that contradictory to what you said? I don't see how they're messing up their lives if they're simply just playing games. I do that, I procrastinate all the time. Does that mean I've messed up my life? No. I understand that it is pretty immature if you're just going to roll your eyes at someone when you get detention, but that's how a lot of kids are. They're not immature, they're acting their age. Most of the people I know who do well do the same shit. Heh. |

I think that hate is a pretty strong word for this type of situation but I understand being disappointed in these types of individuals.

When i think of people "messing up their life in high school" I usually just think of kids constantly skipping or getting high everyday.
Like today in my History class these kids in front of me were talking loud enough for me to hear, and one of them said how they have been coming high to school everyday for 3 years. |

Same here, with the drinking, smoking, skipping (or dropping out entirely), oh and also, having babies ...These things are like fads at my school. Our class got cut in half from over 600 to 300 something. I wonder what became of all those people?

I don't have time to be disappointed in them, because I'm too busy doing my homework for the classes they've skipped or zoned out during
I'm not going lie, I don't really care if they want to waste their time. There are some people who don't have to pay attention during lectures to pass a class and there are other people who have to pay attention or they are lost when it comes to the actual work. I don't like to make presumptions about who's who. Why would I waste my time being disappointed in someone who doesn't pay attention in class but ends up passing the class anyways? If I had a friend who decided that she would rather sit around in her parents basement and get high all day rather then get an education or a job I would be disappointed in the wasted potential, but if she went to class and didn't pay attention that's a different scenario. |

I feel bad when I see smart kids do stupid things. Like there's this one kid I know, and he is really decently smart but the school and teachers let him and helped him believe that he was hopeless. You know, someone who would be lucky to even get out of high school. He gets worst every semester.
The teachers do nothing to help him, half of them wont even give him test anymore. Then they bitch that if he doesn't want to learn I am not going to teach them. It's not like they are doing this out of the kindness of there heart. They are getting paid for this shit. I don't care how much a kid says he doesn't want to take a test he can turn it in blank if he wants and it can be his fault, but when a teacher thinks it's ok to not hand the test to him it makes it the teachers fault he failed. I can't hate people here that make bad decisions when the people around them aren't doing much to help them. The teachers at my school are so messes up. lol. Rant. |

I hate this too. It doesn't matter if they're simply playing games.. it's really disrespectful, and I wish people were more mature. Because there are people out there who do value education, and there are more worthy people in developing countries who would kill to benefit from an education.
So I think people should grow the heck up. |

And it's illegal at any age.
Which is not to say I entirely disagree. I waited to try until college, because that seemed the more sensible thing to do. |

Meh it's illegal because it makes the government more money off of our tax dollars. There's more drug offenders in prison than any other criminal in all of America combined. |

They're not going to fail at life by not paying attention in class. If I know that the information a teacher is talking about can be looked up in a textbook or online, that's the route I'm taking. Most of the stuff taught in high school ends up useless anyway unless you try out for Jeopardy or something.

I don't hate but I do feel disappointed in those who and blow off schoolwork, skip classes, etc and end up just giving up on school itself.
I won't say smoking/partying will mess up your life.. it may or may not because I know a couple of kids who smoke weed almost everyday and are the smartest students in their class but I know kids who just GIVE UP. No reason. They're clean but just don't bother doing anything and end up failing their classes. It's their life though, so whatever. I just get annoyed at those who act like it's cool to do that 'cause it's probably gonna bite you back haha. |
