It's something that really grates me - the vast amount of anime layouts for Xanga on createblog is ridiculous! There are plenty of them now, in fact, more than plenty, so why are people still continuing to make them unless it's requested?

And if it is requested can't you post the codes to the person personally instead of hosting it on a website and blocking it up for everyone else?

What about the people (like myself) who have no interest in or even dislike anime? What about those who just want a normal layout and is sick of having to scroll through pages of Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts and God knows what else layouts (that all look the same, by the way) in order to find a normal one?

It's just really annoying. I know you can search by category, but I'm not always exactly sure of what I want, so I like to scroll through all of them.

I personally think that due to the sheer volume of the anime layouts, they shouldn't be posted anywhere else but under the "Anime" category. People who like Anime are smart enough to look there, right? And it won't be blocking up the all the damn pages for people like myself.

What's so "You've got to be kidding me" about it? Slightly inane use of words there, wasn't it?

This is the feedback forum for "improving the community", and a website that voluntarily provides layouts to people should cater for all kinds of people, not just Anime fans.

I say it's irritating - there are plenty of people who don't like anime, so why should they be subjected to it 24/7 when they're looking for a layout?

I have nothing against people who like anime, or the people that create those layouts, but I just think that there's too many of them to be displayed and rooted through under the "all layouts" thing.

i dont see whats so wrong with them, of course you will just probably trash back "well you like it so of course you wont see whats wrong with it!". To me it all depends on how they look. For example i really dont like the whole disney based layouts because to me it makes pre-judge the person as being 11-13 or immature for their age.

Everyone likes different things so live with it.

I agree with Christy. It's not that hard to find at least ONE layout that you like out of the 2,000 some Xanga layouts. If you don't like it, change it. If you don't like the layouts here, learn to make your own. If you don't want to to learn, find a designer and send him/her a request.

You're completely right that the majority of the xanga layouts submitted are anime related. Xanga isn't as popular as it used to be, so unfortunately for you, the variety of designers isn't very wide.

Solution: Learn to make your own.

How do you expect designers to respect your wishes for non-anime layouts when you can't respect our (and other people's) tastes in them?

And the layout section is not overrun with anime layouts - there's only one in the first nine pages of "all layouts."

To the original poster: Hi. I honestly outgrew the whole anime layouts thing a long time ago (although you wouldn't guess it looking at some of my first livejournal layouts), too. When I first came to CB it was kind of a shock to me that I didn't see a bunch of anime layouts - people actually seemed to favor other subjects, and eventually I kind of grew into that as well. I can assure you that there are plenty of Xanga layouts that feature other subjects besides anime, and it's just a matter of searching through and finding what you want. If you feel like our search doesn't get you the results you're looking for, that is something I apologize for because we are truly hoping to improve on that in the future.

If you were met with less than happy responses to this topic, it's likely because the "tone" in your post was a little on the harsh side. Don't take it personally.

Here's the thing. It's totally ok (duh) to be irritated by the overwhelming amount of anime layouts. However, my advice to anyone who has such a passionate distaste for thumbing through them to fish out a style you do like is to start creating your own xanga layouts. If enough people out there created non anime content there wouldn't be so many bombarding the layouts.

I know that you've pointed out being able to search through categories and how that is still an annoyance when you're not sure what you want. I go through that as well sometimes. When I take a step back though, I realize how much time and effort I have saved by having these resources made available to me. It would have taken much longer to design and code a layout than it does for me to browse past anime layouts to find something I like. Try to look at the positive. =)

Staff isn't allowed to reject a layout just because "We already have a lot of FF layouts". As long as it meets our standards, it can be accepted. Someone might use it, you never know.

I honestly wasn't aware people still use Xanga. But besides that, why don't you try using the categories to search through the layouts? You know, movies/tv, music, seasonal, etc?

Sorry. I seem to lack people skills these days.

Anime is terrible, especially stuff like Death Note, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon.
