I've seen a few posts scattered about complaining about where the debate forum is located. What if, even for just a trial period, it was its own subforum again (instead of being hidden in another subforum)?
Perhaps it would see some more activity if that was done. New topics aren't hard to come up with. As it stands, the thread about the Obama/McCain debate is becoming a debate all its own. That could be lifting productivity of the debate forum. Alright, I'm done. I'll shut up now. |

Idno broski. I loved the debate forum (sorta) when it was it's own entity, but there were also more people willing to post there. The main people who would have participated there have just started to post in the lounge about matters. For instance, I posted an "@economy" thread last week and forgot about it 10 minutes later, came back yesterday and saw people had responded. I think we should just have debate oriented topics left in the lounge for more exposure.

^ That is along the lines of where I was going (sort of) with this, regarding news.
(Except, I don't think that we should really get rid of The Debate forum) |

I like that idea as well, but then there are the shitty topics in the lounge that happen to get bumped because of the nonsense within. The threads that are actually worth a shit will just get pushed a few pages back. Hmmm. We need more input. |

I think that it should be given it's own subforum. I feel as though it has definitely started to pick up again, and maybe we should add it back, with the lack of quality in the lounge.

IMO, make the debate worthy topics in the lounge stick out some how. Can there be some way to make topics deemed debate worthy bolded so they stick out amongst all the other threads in the lounge? Bold will definitely bring more attention to them. I'm bold. And daring.

Bold will definitely bring more attention to them. I'm bold. And daring. That is actually not a bad idea as well. I also think that it is time to get rid of a few subforums as it is. This place is in need of an overhaul, and discussions like this can only help. I totally dig your idea though Steven. |

Bold will definitely bring more attention to them. I'm bold. And daring. Why yes, you are. I do not see a way to bold the topic titles. Putting asterics next them maybe? I'll keep researching possiblities. Another possiblity is making Debate a subforum of the Lounge? |

debate thread doesn't need to be plastered on the front page it needs people who can actually intelligently contribute... oops, intellignt discourseeeeeee, nt for this place, damn.
honestlym though, since it's sort of impossible to demand quality discourse, especially in the case of serious debate... maybe we should just plaster it on the front page; at least then it would get some traffffficcccccc. |

I think that if the Debate forum and the lounge became more, idk, related?, it would bring a lot more hostility into the Lounge. The Lounge is supposed to be a fun, off-beat, 'anything else', type of place.
But, that's just me. |

i'm in favor of whatever, i mean obviously what we're doing now isn't working. we were better of when we gave it it's own forum in my opinion, but for some unknown reason jusun tried to tell the members of a site he doesn't frequent what people here want. i don't see why we can't just move it back, who cares about jusun's opinion when he didn't care about ours? even if a less active forum is at the front i don't see how that matters or hurts anyone.
anyway we should make it more visible, even though i don't think it's going to be a booming place either way. cb has a bunch of people who couldn't care less about debate and also a lot of people who are too young to have a grasp of the issues in the first place. (not like i'm that i'm old, i'm just saying it's hard at 14 to know what's going on when you haven't even had classes on it in school.) we need new people to get interested becuase i can already give answers for steven, brandon, nate and whoever else cause we've been there and done that. IDK HOW TO FIX IT, BUT MOVE THE DEBATE FORUM TO THE FRONT. |

I am sorry, but this is the attitude that we need to start taking. It is obvious to both mods and members alike, that he doesn't give a f**k about what's going on around here, so we need to make it our business to make it better for us. Move the debate forum! |

Seriously, what the heck harm could it possibly do by being its own forum? So I thought instead of waiting and going back and forth, screw it. xD

Way to wait for more opinions
Nah, I like it better this way, too. The Books and News is looking kinda lonely now. |

lol Sorry Dee.
I was thinking that too. I don't think Writing should be in interests. I never did. I always thought it was better in Academia but alas. haha PS, it's not difficult to move back at all, if my hopping on it offends people. |

Hmm... Maybe Writing (maybe Art, too?) could be moved to Academia. And then, in the future, if the News forum is done away with Books isn't stuck in with Interests... 'cause Interests already has 7 subforums.

Dee your opinion is worthless. You'll probably say something insignificant then put yourself down in hopes that someone will counter your self degradation.
